Top Scandinavian Financial Services Provider to Further Expand Vilnius Competence Centre

March 27, 2015

OpusCapita, a Finnish capital group and a leading international provider of financial accounting services, is planning to expand the operations of its newly acquired Regional Competence Centre in Vilnius. The centre is already adding to its team of 130 IT and finance specialists. The expansion comes as a result of OpusCapita’s recent acquisition of Norian, a financial and accounting services outsourcing provider. Norian, now called OpusCapita Accounting, had been operating in Lithuania since 2005, and the Vilnius centre will now provide the majority of its services.

Finland-based OpusCapita is a major provider of rationalisation solutions for financial processes, with more than 2,300 employees providing financial management and automisation services to over 11,000 clients in 50 countries. At the end of 2014 it acquired Norian Group, the Norwegian accounting services outsourcing provider. This move not only increased its market presence, but also widened the scope of its activities to include small and medium-sized businesses.

Expanding its Vilnius operations

These news activities have led the company to further expand its Regional Competence Centre in Vilnius, both in terms of size and in terms of its range of functions. The centre, which was established a decade ago, was originally called a Financial Transactions Unit, and dealt only with standard financial services. In 2013, it became a Competence Centre, and its range of services expanded considerably. It started providing accounting, HR and wages, credit administration, finance management system and consultancy services to companies in Norway, Sweden and Lithuania.

Since this expansion, it has become the main centre for OpusCapita Accounting’s operations, as Lina Maroščikienė, Head of the centre in Vilnius, explains. “We are proud to be the main engine of OpusCapita Accounting – around 70% of services are provided to company clients from Vilnius.”

According to Ms Maroščikienė, this rapid growth was down to the quality of staff the Vilnius centre was able to provide. “We started in Lithuania as an auxiliary office and today we are a competence centre, whose employees are highly appreciated in the company. Thanks to their competencies and knowledge of Scandinavian languages, Lithuanians are in high demand in joint projects in Sweden and Norway, and are invited to lead projects implemented in other countries.”

Growing Client Base

As a result of its acquisition of Norian, OpusCapita has become one of the major providers of financial accounting services in Norway and a major player in international financial services outsourcing. To manage this new demand, the Vilnius centre will add to its 130-strong team by recruiting more top finance and IT specialists.

According to Ms Maroščikienė, the centre is already recruiting Norwegian-speaking finance specialists, and will add to the range of services they provide. “Having become part of OpusCapita Accounting, we have attracted new clients from Norway and Sweden. We also intend to offer higher value-added services requiring a wider range of competences.”
