International investors top Best Employer poll once again

February 02, 2016

For the second year running, CV-Online’s nationwide survey to find the best employers in Lithuania has been dominated by international investors. Western Union Processing Lithuania won the overall award for 2015, repeating their 2014 success, while Barclays and Ikea also picking up the top prize in their respective industries. The likes of SEB, Swedbank and Adform also featured prominently.

Every year, both employees and job seekers are asked by CV-Online to nominate and vote for the company they think is the best employer, both overall and in 5 industry specific categories: Trade, Finance, IT, Industry and Transport. Following the pattern of previous years, foreign investors have again proved to be the most popular employers. In the overall category, Western Union Processing Lithuania came out on top, with Barclays Operations Centre in Lithuania in third. The national railway operator, Lietuvos Geležinkeliai, was runner up in the overall category.

The most tightly contested category was Finance, with just a few votes separating the three international companies that eventually won. SEB and Swedbank were edged out by Western Union, picking up their second award of 2015.

The Trade category was also won by an international investor, with Ikea Lietuva voted the best employer in this field for the second consecutive year. The oil and gas companies Statoil and Neste came in second and third respectively, completing the Scandinavian whitewash in this category.

Barclays Operations Centre in Lithuania came away with the award for best employer in the IT sector. Danish advertising specialists Adform, who announced plans to recruit up to 200 developers and specialists last week, came in third, with Lithuanian telecoms company TEO in second.

In the Indsutry category, Coca – Cola retained its top spot, coming in ahead of Philip Morris Baltic in second place and beverage producer Švyturys-Utenos Alus in third. The winners in the Transport category remained unchanged from 2014, with Lietuvos Geležinkeliai again the top employer and DHL Lietuva and Girteka earning the second and third spots respectively.

The awards are the culmination of an extensive online survey of employees carried out by CV-Online between December 2015 and January 2016. The 2,616 respondents could vote for one of 15 companies in each category, or suggest another company not specified in the list. The participants in the survey were also asked to specify the company operating in Lithuania they would most like to work for.

CV-Online is an online personnel search and selection company that was founded in 1996 in Estonia and has been operating in Lithuania since 2000. It is part of the international network Alma Career Oy (www.almacareer.com), which provides personnel search services in nine European countries.
