Lithuanian Economy Grew by 5.8 percent in 2011
The national economy expanded by 5.8 percent last year, the highest growth rate in three years, driven by construction, industry, and financial services, the Statistics Lithuania said in its preliminary annual overview.

Lithuanian PM receives World Leader Cycle Award 2012
The Economic Faculty Association of the Erasmus University Rotterdam (EFR) presented Lithuania’s Prime Minister (PM) Andrius Kubilius with a World Leader Cycle Award 2012 for merits in the economy sector. This annual award is given for special merits in the areas of politics, economy and social welfare.

World Bank Sees No Recession in Lithuania
Lithuanian economy, which expanded by an impressive 5.8 percent last year, will slow down somewhat in 2012, to 3.2 percent, which means that the country is not likely to slide into the second phase of recession, the World Bank said.

Additional LTL16m to Support Direct Investment
Lithuanian and foreign businesses will be able to apply for financial support from the European Union for investment projects aimed at building or reconstruction of industrial sites and introduction of new production facilities, the Ministry of Economy said. Initially, the Invest LT-2 programme is expected to distribute LTL16.2m in financial support but the amount might be increased in line with the demand for funding.
