Western Union to set up a Global Operations Center of Excellence in Lithuania
Western Union, an industry leader in global money transfer, will set up its new Global Operations Center of Excellence in Lithuania. The Lithuanian Ministry of Economy signed a Letter of Intent with the company. Western Union will open its Center later this year and will create over 200 new jobs in Vilnius during the coming three years.

Thermo Fisher Scientific Acquires Fermentas
The world leader in serving science Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc. announced that it has signed a definitive agreement to acquire a manufacturer and global distributor of enzymes, reagents and kits for molecular and cellular biology research - the Lithuanian Fermentas for $260 million.

IMD World Competitiveness Yearbook 2010 shows, that Lithuania got the highest positions in female labor force (No. 2), unit labor costs in the manufacturing sector (2), communication technologies’ conformity with business requirements (3) and in number of mobile telephone subscribers (4).

Passenger Flow at Vilnius Airport Continues to Increase
In March, Vilnius International Airport (VIA) served 112,784 passengers, which is a 24% increase compared to the same period last year. In Q1 of 2010, passenger flow at the airport increased 10% (285,980) compared to Q1 of 2009, and the growth of the number of passengers is becoming even more rapid.
