Klaipėda Seaport to Connect Asia and Scandinavia
The international transportation company YASHEYA has chosen Klaipėda State Seaport to transport containerised bulk cargo from India to Scandinavia. Soon the first test cargo will come to the major Lithuanian transport hub by the shuttle train Viking. The company YASHEYA, headquarted in Hong Kong, is looking for optimal containerised bulk cargo transportation to Europe.

New Shopping and Entertainment Centre Opened in the Capital City
The German developer “ECE” together with Lithuanian partners opened a new shopping and entertainment centre Ozas Gallery last Thursday in Vilnius. Ozas Gallery was built in less than two years by Kayi Construction, and the investment volume came to EUR 170M.

Swedish Press: Worst Times Has Already Passed for Lithuania
Yesterday the Swedish business daily Dagens Industry published an interview with Andrius Kubilius, the Prime Minister of Lithuania, to Bloomberg News. In the interview Mr Kubilius states that Lithuanian export and industry indexes are showing improvements and the recovering German and French economies stimulate the Lithuanian economy as well.

Standard & Poor's: Lithuanian Government Is Taking Sufficient Measures
On Monday Standard & Poor's (S&P) affirmed Lithuania's long-term investment grade sovereign foreign currency BBB credit rating and removed it from a CreditWatch negative position, citing government commitments to address deteriorating public finances.

Quality of Living in Vilnius Higher Than in Neighbouring Capitals
Vilnius is the highest-ranking capital (79) among neighbouring countries according to the annual worldwide Mercer's 2009 Quality of Living Survey. The results of the survey show that the quality of life in Lithuania’s capital is better than that in Riga (Latvia), Tallinn (Estonia), Warsaw (Poland), and Minsk (Belarus) as well as some other European cities. Vilnius is also ranked higher than Lisbon (Portugal), Athens (Greece) and Prague (the Czech Republic) in terms of infrastructure.

Moog Medical Devices to Invest EUR 2M in Lithuania and Establish Services Centre
The U.S. company Moog Medical Devices which acquired the company the Lithuanian Viltechmeda at the beginning of the year 2009, intends to invest EUR 2M in Lithuania in the nearest future, to establish a modern services centre and expand its research and technology branch.

Lithuania Visited for Both Leisure and Business Purposes
Statistics Lithuania informs that the number of overnight trips of foreigners in 2008, against 2007, grew by 8.5 % (from 1.5 million in 2007 to 1.6 million in 2008), while that of the same-day trips – by 4.4 % (from 2.7 million in 2007 to 2.8 million in 2008).
