Among Top 10 Political and Economic Reformers
In the newest Bertelsmann Fund’s report Lithuania is ranked 7th among world’s Top 10 most successful political and economic reformers. Lithuania received a 9.04 rating out of 10.

Sharpest Decrease in Hourly Labour Costs Recorded in Lithuania
EUROSTAT has reported that the sharpest annual decrease in hourly labour costs of -10.9% was observed in Lithuania in the 3rd quarter of 2009.

In the first European Green City Index released by Siemens AG and the Economist Intelligence Unit, Lithuania‘s capital Vilnius tops the category of the European major cities breathing the cleanest air.

Lithuanians Are Very Eager to Learn Europeans
Lithuania takes the 1st position in the EU by the number of students in the country. Compared to the EU’s average of 15 %, only 7 % of 18-24 year-old people in Lithuania are not occupied with studies, the least in the EU, announces the European Commission.

Profit Tax Reduced
On 9 December Lithuania's Parliament approved reductions to the profit tax. As of January 1, 2010 the corporate tax rate will be 15 %, down from 20 %. A 5 % tax will be levied on the profits of small businesses, instead of the current 13 %.

Star1 and Ryanair News for 2010
Right after the New Year Star1 Airlines will operate five instead of four weekly flights from Vilnius to London, and Ryanair will launch three weekly flights between Kaunas and Brussels South Charleroi Airport in February.

Klaipėda FEZ Companies Increased Their Exports
This year, companies operating in the Klaipėda Free Economic Zone (FEZ) have increased their export. Aggregate export indicators of 15 companies operating in the FEZ have grown by 13 % during 9 months of the present year (in comparison with the same period in 2008).

On 30 November the 1st meeting of the Investment Advisory Council, organized by the Ministry of Economy and Lithuanian Development Agency, was held in Vilnius, aiming to share ideas and to discuss ways to improve the investment environment of Lithuania.
